Boteti nurses issued with uniforms - Makgato
06 Apr 2017
All eligible staff in Boteti East constituency were issued uniforms between 2013 and 2015, the Minister of Health and Wellness, Ms Dorcas Makgato, has said.
Ms Makgato was responding to a question in Parliament from Boteti East MP, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe.
Nurses in the constituency, Ms Makgato said, were again issued uniforms in 2016/17 financial year, adding that due to financial constraints, “no nurses were issued uniforms during the financial year 2015/16.”
“But, other officers were however issued uniforms during that year. Our guidelines are that all staff eligible for uniforms should be issued uniforms annually. Due to financial constraints, we have not been able to do so,” she said.
Funds permitting, the minister said uniforms would continue to be provided annually to staff as per the current guidelines in Boteti East constituency.
Mr Lelatisitswe wanted to know if the minister was aware that nurses and other officers who were eligible for uniforms in the Boteti East constituency clinics and hospitals were last given uniforms in 2012, and how many officers were affected by the shortage and in which clinics.
He also wanted to know how many years they had not been supplied with uniform, the ministry’s policy on uniform and how the staff was expected to deliver according to the set standards if the ministry did not comply.
In addition, the legislator also wanted to know when would Ms Makgato give medical personnel uniform in the Boteti East constituency. ENDS
