The Flying Doves humiliated PUBS by walloping them 64-9 in a netball league game played at Botswana Netball Association courts in Gaborone on Saturday.

The Kanye-based PUBS showed no fighting spirit and struggled to maintain possession, which gave Doves an opportunity to reduce them to mere spectators.  Even though his team lost drastically, PUBS’s coach, Monty Mokoto, said he still believed he had highly talented players.

“My observation is that, unlike Doves, my players have no stamina. And this is mainly due to lack of fitness and endurance, because the team comprises of students and it makes it very difficult to assemble the team and train them together,” said Mokoto.

Doves coach, Dunga Matlho, said although his team played well, there were several minor mistakes that the team did. Matlho said he noticed that he needed to work hard in improving the physical fitness of both his goal attacker, Tshegofatso Sefanyetso and goal defender, Kaone Mothowanaga.

"These players have a lot of potential and I think the problem is in their fitness level. So they need a lot of training," he added. He said he was impressed by the good play that was displayed by his goal defender, Tsaone Tshegofatso and midcourt player, Sephala Kgalaeng.

"Tsaone is very young. She is only 14-years-old and doing form one, but she plays so well. Sephala also did well as she managed to contain the midcourt," he added.

Of the six games that were scheduled to be played on Saturday, as per the fixtures, only three were played.

The other two games that were played were between the Jungle Queens and Flying Hawks and Mochudi Centre Chiefs and PUBS. Queens beat Hawks 55-19, while Chiefs defeated PUBS by 58-26.

The other three games that were expected to be played were between; BDF Cats and Prisons, UB Crystals and Doves and Queens and Notwane. However, these games were postponed, as some of the Cats and Notwane players were on national netball team camp. ENDS
