Minister of Health and Wellness, Ms Dorcas Makgato has told Parliament that there were nine vacant positions at National AIDS Coordinating Agency, out of an establishment of 105. She stated that six positions, which included one E1, two E2s, two D-band scales (D1& D3) and one C band (C1), were currently being acted for and a recruitment process for all of them were ongoing. Ms Makgato said the remaining three office cleaner level scales were being rationalised as part of government policy to reduce the public service and outsource certain functions such as cleaning services. The minister said currently there were six temporary employees engaged as office cleaners whose employment with NACA ends on Friday. She said ‘the period of the longest vacant post is 42 months’. Specially Elected MP, Mr Mephato Reatile had asked the minister to state the number of vacant posts at NACA, and the number of temporary employees engaged by NACA to acquire experience and the period of the longest vacant post.
