29 Mar 2017

The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development is not aware of any promise made for the construction of a youth centre during the President’s visit at Gweta and Nata villages. Responding to a parliamentary question on Tuesday, Assistant Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Mr Kefentse Mzwinila said they are aware that a piece of land was at some point made available for the purpose of building a youth centre but the project could not take off due to financial constraints, the situation which still prevails. Mr Mzwinila said the Village Development Committee requested that in the interim the ministry should consider using the Gweta Community Hall as a youth recreational centre, but upon assessment, the cost of the refurbishment was found to be prohibitive. Nata – Gweta MP, Mr Polson Majaga had asked the minister when the construction of the youth centre will start as promised the people of Nata-Gweta during the President’s visit to the villages. He also wanted to know what has caused the delay. ENDS
