28 Mar 2017

Botswana Housing Corporation (BHC) is currently going through an organisational review and restructuring exercise which is nearing completion.
Responding to a parliamentary question recently, Minister of Infrastructure and Housing Development, Mr Nonofo Molefhi said there were 47 vacant positions at BHC as at March 22 this year.
“However, some of the vacant positions will not be filled as they do not obtain in the new structure while some will be recruited into when the new structure is rolled out,” Minister Molefhi said.
He told Parliament that BHC currently had eight temporary employees and 14 graduate interns in various functions across the corporation.
He explained that the longest vacant position at BHC was two years and five months, and that related to two positions that became vacant after dismissal of officers from the corporation following disciplinary process.
Mr Molefhi further said officers took the matter to court and the positions had not been filled pending the outcome of the court process.
Specially Elected MP, Mr Mephato Reatile had asked the minister to state the number of vacant positions at BHC, temporary employees engaged by the organisation to acquire experience and the period of the longest vacant posts. ENDS
