28 Mar 2017

The three destitute houses donated by private entities have been temporarily left by occupants at Kaudwane settlement, Parliament was told recently. Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso stated that occupants were believed to be visiting relatives within the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Ms Tshireletso noted that seven houses built by Permaculture Trust for some Kaudwane residents were currently not in use. She said on the other hand 30 houses built by the ministry using destitute housing funds were handed over to beneficiaries and were occupied. Ms Tshireletso said through Kweneng District Council, the ministry was in the process of tracing owners of the said houses in order to assess the situation and decide on the way forward. MP for Takatokwane, Mr Ngaka Ngaka had asked the minister if she was aware that some destitute houses were left by occupants at Kaudwane village who went back to the CKGR. Mr Ngaka also wanted to know the number of houses which were not in use and what the ministry was doing to address the situation. ENDS
