Senete Primary School teaching staff and management, students, Parents’ Teachers Association and the community at large have been commended for a job well done following their school’s outstanding performance in last year’s Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE).
The school scooped position one nationally with a 100 per cent pass for ABC and coming second to Diloro Primary School on AB quality pass with 78.4 per cent against 93.3 of Diloro.
Speaking at the victory celebration by the school recently, area Member of Parliament Mr Edwin Batshu said the school had not only raised their name and that of their village but that of  the constituency as well.
Mr Batshu, also Minister of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs ,said it was the second consecutive year that schools in his constituency had outclassed other national schools nationally and even within the central region , citing  Dagwi which also has 100 per cent pass rate.
Such performance, he said gave an indication that there was team work within schools in partnership with PTAs and regional offices adding that to encourage such working relations, he said at the time of assuming office as an MP he created a floating trophy to be competed for.

Out of 18 schools in the constituency, Mr Batshu said the trophy had never stayed more than twice in one school due to the intense competition.
For his part chief executive officer for Companies and Intellectual Property Authority also a product of Senete school Mr Conductor Masena said Botswana offered its own unique way of allowing Batswana from different backgrounds to dream of becoming whatever they wanted to be by offering them the groundbreaking foundation of basic education.
He noted that with such foundation it was upon individual students to play their part and determine their future.

He therefore said by celebrating such a milestone achievement, support should be extended to teachers who were mentoring students, parents for helping their children and the learners themselves for beating the odds to focus on their school work in this era of digital technology which offered a lot of disruptions to learning.
Meanwhile, Botswana Teachers Union president Mr Johannes Tshukudu praised the winning team noting that as a union they encouraged such outstanding commitment and performance for their members.
He added that the future for every individual started with a teacher and thus as a union they did not condone laziness however they advocated for better welfare of their members so that they could be at their best at all times. ENDS
