Assistant Minister of Agricultural Development and Food Security, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse says the ministry parastatals have 174 vacant posts and 206 temporary employees engaged to acquire experience.
He said the longest vacant post was 60 months at the National Food Technology Research Centre for the position of director of corporate services.
Mr Autlwetse also said there were 106 vacant posts at Botswana Meat Commission and 160 temporary employees engaged.
He further said 23 posts were vacant at Botswana Agricultural Marketing Board, with five temporary employees, 33 vacant posts at Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources with 10 temporary staff, nine vacant posts at the National Food Technology Research Centre with 25 temporary staff and three vacant posts at Botswana Vaccine Institute with six people engaged on temporary basis. Specially Elected MP, Mr Mephato Reatile had asked the minister to state the total number of vacant posts in the ministry’s parastatals, the number of temporary employees engaged by these parastatals to acquire experience, and also the period of the longest vacant posts.
