No plans to upgrade Metsibotlhoko kgotla
23 Mar 2017
Parliament has been informed that there were no cases held at Metsibotlhoko kgotla in 2016 because the kgotla is a court of arbitration and not court of record.
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Frans Van der Westhuizen stated that in 2016, the court of arbitration at the village kgotla did not refer any cases to Sesung Customary Court.
He further stated that there were no plans under NDP 11 or Kweneng District Development Plan 8 to upgrade Metsibotlhoko from a court of arbitration to court of record.
However, he noted that the issue would be revisited during the midterm review of NDP 11.
MP for Takatokwane, Mr Ngaka Ngaka had asked the minister to state the number of cases held at Metsibotlhoko village kgotla in 2016 and those referred to Sesung village kgotla.
The MP also wanted to know when Metsibotlhoko kgotla will be upgraded. ENDS
