Non-competitiveness delays filling of posts
23 Mar 2017
Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation, Mr Prince Maele says currently there are 487 vacant posts at Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) against the establishment of 3743, while the total number of temporary employees engaged is 69.
Speaking in Parliament on March 21, Mr Maele said the longest vacant post was that of a librarian which dated back to 2010.
He said the major challenge that caused the delay in filling vacant positions was non-competitiveness of the remuneration packages offered by WUC compared to the labour market.
Specially Elected MP, Mr Mephato Reatile had wanted to know the number of vacant posts at WUC, as well as the total number of temporary employees engaged by the company.
He had also wanted to know the period of the longest vacant post and the challenges that caused the delay. ENDS
