Facilitate businesses through EDD-Tshireletso
21 Mar 2017
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso has urged public servants to effectively implement programmes in place in order to assist businesses in the districts, particulrly the Economic Diversification Drive (EDD), Local Economic Empowerment (LED) and Economic Stimulus Programme which are aimed at creating employment.
Ms Tshireletso made the remarks at the heads of department and senior management meeting organised to share and discuss issues related to daily operations, and to come up with ways of improving and overcoming service delivery challenges.
She reminded the gathering that their core mandate was to implement government policies and programmes in an efficient and effective manner.
She said collaboration among themselves would enable them to be well informed about various projects and developments within their district.
Ms Tshireletso encouraged civil servants to be customer oriented and serve in a manner that was appropriate and acceptable.
That, she said, could be achieved if they familiarised themselves with relevant statutes, policies and procedures applicable to a particular service.
As part of government efforts towards building a new public service culture, she said the 10-point agenda was introduced and urged employees to abide by them at all times.
“We need to pay attention to these good initiatives and ensure that everyone of us walks and talks the 10-point agenda because it is a yardstick against which our performance can be measured by our customers,” she added.
Ms Tshireletso admitted that public servants were faced with challenges of limited resources, especially financial resources and called for responsibility and accountability in handling resources. ENDS
