Following the misappropriation of Self Help Housing Agency (SHHA) funds at Boteti Sub-district council, there has been delays in resolving the matter due to protracted criminal investigations by relevant authorities.

Answering a question in Parliament on March 20, Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Frans Van Der Westhuizen said the council has since taken a decision to consult the concerned beneficiaries with a view to either stop their loan repayments and subsequently refund them or enrol them into the programme.

He said there were 68 beneficiaries affected by the situation, and that the council would conclude the matter by April 30.

Member of Parliament for Boteti East, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had asked the minister to state the progress made on SHHA 2004/2006 programme beneficiaries who were paying for loans without houses being built in Letlhakane, the number of people affected and when they would be attended to and how. ENDS
