Tafic triumph over Maun Tigers

20 Mar 2017

Maun Tigers have suffered defeat in their backyard following a 1-0 loss over the visiting Francistown-based Tafic over the weekend in the ongoing Debswana First Division North League game.

Tafic who had an upper hand from the onset scored their only one and winning goal in the 38th minute of the first half courtesy of Uyapo Tibathuwe who was all over the Maun side making sure that Machiminyenga takes on the lead.

It seemed all was not going well for the home side when the coach Cecil Mosojane had to make a forced substitution after one of his strikers Reuben Disho picked up a knee injury in the first stages of the game and was replaced by Moatlhodi Maposa.

Mosojane who earlier before the game stated that Maun Tigers had a good track record with Tafic citing that they had defeated the Francistown outfit in the first leg of the tournament, was rather optimistic about their game stressing that they were not doing well when they were playing in Maun.

He said he did not know why that was the case, adding that the trend is evident in many African clubs and that they were not an exception.

He however clarified that they were going to use the 5-2-3 formation to make sure that they take the game to Tafic.

On the other hand Tafic coach Elias Chinyemba said they were approaching the game under no pressure at all since they were the visiting team.

He said they were going to take the match to Maun Tigers, adding that they were going to use an attacking 4-3-3 formation against the home favorites.

In the second half of the game Maun Tigers coach Mosojane seemed to have told the boys something but all the efforts of looking for a goal went in vain.

Even though Maun Tigers seemed to have been enjoying much of the ball possession Mosojane’s boys made too many mistakes in the box which made it easy for Machiminyenga to easily take the ball out of the danger zone.

Even though Tafic player Simbarashe Sithole picked a red card after being booked earlier in the second half of the game Maun Tigers did not capitalise on the opportunity.

Machiminyenga who were playing their system popularly known as Ndipe Ndi Kupe had completely exhausted the Maun side who seemed to had given up towards the end of the first half. ENDS
