Generator powers Khwee school hostel
16 Mar 2017
Parliament has been informed that currently the students’ hostel at Khwee Primary School is powered by a generator.
Answering a question on Wednesday from the MP for Boteti East, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe, the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said in 2010, a solar system was used in the hostels. She however noted that ‘it is true that some hostel blocks have no power where wiring and bulbs were damaged by pupils. Such blocks are however not occupied.’
Ms Tshireletso told the House that the affected blocks are earmarked for maintenance after the beginning of the 2017/16 financial year, since currently; there are no funds for the required maintenance.
Mr Lelatisitswe had asked the minister if she is aware that since 2010 there has been no power supply at the students’ hostel at Khwee Primary School.
He also wanted to know what remedial cause the minister is considering in making the environment conducive for students in the hostel. ENDS
