The Ministry of Basic Education has started the process to transfer overdue teachers from Ghanzi Senior Secondary School, Parliament was told.

Answering a parliamentary question on Tuesday, Minister Unity Dow said the first six teachers are currently on transfer from the school.

Dr Dow stated that ‘there are 55 teachers who are long overdue for transfer’ from the school, adding that this was an important welfare issue that needed urgent attention.

She however informed the House that the teachers of the school have always displayed a high level of professionalism and continue to deliver despite the challenge.

Member of Parliament for Ghanzi North, Mr Noah Salakae wanted to know if the minister is aware that there are teacher transfers at Ghanzi SSS that are long overdue and have not been processed with no explanation given.

MP Salakae further asked if the minister is aware that failure to effect those transfers will demoralise the teachers and adversely affect their productivity. ENDS
