NRH wins work ethic campaign

15 Mar 2017

Nyangabwe Referral Hospital (NRH) has won the Botswana National Productivity Centre (BNPC)’s work ethic national campaign, which ended on January 31.

Presenting the cheque of P2 000 to the winner , the Manager of Productivity and Quality Programmes at BNPC, Mr Teedzani Majaule commended the hospital staff for their effort towards achieving the objective of the campaign, saying that it should motivate them further to continue serving the nation.

He said often people remember bad work ethics, but the winner, who posted about the good ethics of NRH staff, had shown that indeed good work ethics could  create desired results in the workplace.

Mr Majule further added that with the campaign, their main objective was to encourage and promote increased productivity in the workplace as well as competitiveness among the citizens and he was happy that through it they managed to reach 27 319 people with over 500 people reacting to the post either by liking, sharing and commenting.

NRH deputy matron, Ms Matilah Tema expressed her gratitude to those who responded to the Facebook post and her staff for leading by example.

She said the hospital was a busy and stressful environment as it dealt with people with different kinds of illnesses, therefore it required someone with a strong and warm heart to welcome and help them accordingly.

Ms Tema added that the staff had shown commitment in helping patients, expressing hope that the award would further motivate those who were dragging their feet to show traits of good work ethics.

She further said the award would go a long way in encouraging and promoting increased productivity in the workplace and competitiveness of the nation, among others.

The winner, who posted on Facebook by the name Kitso Ketshabile Kittie, walked away with P1 500 for having the highest number of likes.

She said in the statement posted on October he 29, 2016 that she was admitted at the hospital and the woman who helped her was so caring, describing the assistance as the best she had ever received, which even surpassed the care she got at private hospitals.

Ms Ketshabile described the woman as warm-hearted, comparing her attitude towards patients with medicine as most of the patients appreciated her efforts because she went beyond her duties to make sure they were comfortable.

She said the nurse gave all of them hope that they would be healed, noting that ever since she went out of the hospital, she never became ill again after spending a lot of money  in and out of private hospitals.

Further, she commended the nurse, saying she wished all others could be like her, but she was positive that if all the nurses could put more effort in giving patients priority, many lives could be saved.

Ms Ketshabile further expressed gratitude towards BNPC for recognising the nurse for her good work. ENDS
