High flying Tafic were held to a draw by cross town rivals Tasc in a Debswana First Division North (FDN) game.
Tasc coach, Simeon Omphile was happy with how his charges played against the log leaders and told BOPA in a post-match interview that they had planned well to close down Tafic’s left winger, Thato Mosweu, who they picked as the play-maker of the side.
Tango Boys, as Tasc is also known was the first to draw blood in the dying moments of the first half when a long ball sent in was easily controlled by Oratile Taunyane who easy thwarted off a challenge from a defender and beat the advancing Tafic goalkeeper Abednico Morapedi on the 45th minute.
Tasc goalkeeper, Kutlo Motshwaedi was on his best day as he denied various efforts by Tafic strikers such as Michael Murirwa, Mooketsi Mampori and new signing Simbarashe Sithole.
New Tafic head coach, Elias Chinyemba brought in hard running striker, Mbatshi Machongo in the second half to try to add to the fire power and take the game to Tasc, who appeared prepared to defend the one goal lead.
Tafic increased their attack and presence on the Tasc’s 18 yard area for most of the second half and their efforts were rewarded when a Tasc defender handled the ball inside the box and referee Tlhabologang pointed to the penalty spot.
Matjimenyenga supporters got up in their feet as they appreciated the lifeline given to their side on the 85th minute and defender Ronald Selemane stepped up to send Motshwaedi the wrong way and equalize, saving his side from a Tasc scare and potential defeat.
The draw means Tafic still lead the log with 37 points from the 17 outings while Tasc still lies second bottom with 11 points from the same amount of games. ENDS
