Young farmer survives hostile environment

Mr Moses Kesetselemang of Mogaung ward in Moshupa is among many young people who have taken up government’s poverty eradication schemes to better their lives.
Having toyed with the idea to rear small stock from as early as 2008, the 34-year-old is finally a proud owner of a total of 77 goats, 70 females and seven males, thanks to both LIMID and Youth Development Fund (YDF).
“The dream started as early as 2008 and only received first funding in 2013 through LIMID and I have never looked back since,” he told BOPA.
Mr Kesetselemang said however that the road to where he is has not been without challenges; having had to contend with outright hatred and intimidation from fellow farmers.
Not only was the promising young farmer intimidated, his animals were stolen in the process, forcing him to relocate from Sephatlhaphatlha lands north of Moshupa to Kwahu which is just by Kanye circle.
To date, his primary challenge remains finding a permanent grazing pasture for his animals where he could also start up a diary project for goats.ENDS
