13 Mar 2017
Parliament has been informed that during the event a Mathematics teacher was absent at Molefhi Senior School for two terms, his classes were covered by the schools available staff.
Assistant Minister of Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology, Mr Fidelis Molao said this when responding to a question from the MP for Mochudi West, Mr Gilbert Mangole.
He said it was undesirable for classes to meet different teachers when covering a course as some elements of the content could be missed and others repeated.
“Such disturbance can negatively affect the learners’ performance,” he said.
MP Mangole wanted the Minister of Basic Education to confirm that there are Form 5 classes in Molefi Senior School which went for two terms in last academic year without a mathematics teacher.
He also wanted to know the measures put in place to prepare the students for final examinations and what is likely to impact on the performance of the students regarding the subject. ENDS
