GNT demolish FC Satmos

07 Mar 2017

Francistown based Great North Tigers (GNT) demolished FC Satmos of Selebi Phikwe 3-0 during Debswana First Division North (FDN) game played on Sunday at the old Francistown Stadium.
Pegged at the much dreaded bottom of the log, the two teams played entertaining football with Satmos dominating, but the hosting side soon took charge and won the day in the end.
On the 15th minute, GNT’s Thabo ‘Pogba’ Leposo’s long drive into his opponent’s goal posts found Godiraone Segaise in a good position to score his side’s first goal.
The rejuvenated Leposo and Segaise continued to be a menace to the visiting side, fighting hard to secure the second goal but missing crucial chances unfortunately.
The two forwards had plenty of ball supply from the midfield courtesy of Gofamodimo ‘Gaa’ Kobe and veteran player Tamucha Bedi.
Satmos relied heavily on short passes when in attack, but their efforts were easily intercepted by the solid visiting side.
As the match approached the end of the first half, Satmos’ play maker, Mompoloki Otsogile displayed signs of exhaustion as he had been piled with a lot of hard work from ineffective teammates.
On the 29th minute, Satmos had a chance to equalize through Goabaone Tasebolai but his shot was a near miss.
Sensing heat, Satmos made their early substitution on the 35th minute, pulling Koketso Mogae for Bokamoso Bodiba.
On the 37th minute, Leposo wasted a golden opportunity to change the score line by failing to beat Satmos keeper, Morambiwa Ndlovu when on a one-on-one encounter. Ndlovu easily flicked the ball to the far left to cause what turned out to be a useless corner kick for GNT.
On the 56th minute, Aobakwe Mopaki made matters even worse for FC Satmos when he scored a brilliant second goal to give his side a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Not long after that, a well taken set piece by Mopaki on the 63th minute bounced back from the cross bar to meet Segaise, who wasted no time in bagging his second goal of the game to raise the score line to 3-0.
Satmos pulled out Motshegetsi Gaoganetswe for George Sekani on the 66th minute, but that still did not help them from the marauding trio of Leposo, Mopaki and Segaise, who tormented their opponent’s defence. ENDS
