Sharps Electrical is still at the summit of the Debswana First Division South log standing, and they cemented their supremacy on Saturday with a 1-0 victory against Mogoditshane Fighters.
Their victory was courtesy of Letlhogonolo Chenjela who scored the sole goal.
Sharps has intentions of gaining promotion to the elite league, and currently there are marching well, having won nine out of 15 games they played, drew five, lost one. They have only conceded only five goals.
Since its inception the Old Naledi based side have never played in the elite league.
Their coach Pio Paul looks determined to make history and looking at their fighting spirit there is nothing that can stop them this season.
Paul said in a post-match interview that he was happy that his players managed to secure three valuable points.
“The aim is to maintain the lead, and when we play home we must do everything to win our game, but as you saw anxiety crepe on my player's first half, and we didn't play very well. It was a game of two halves, first half they dominated and second half we had our chances,” he said.
Furthermore, he said his players fought on the day because the game on its own was a tough one, given that had Fighters managed to beat them they could have relegated them to the second position.
Their next game would be against Letlapeng, which he said the fact that Letlapeng was one of the teams that was at the bottom of the log, makes them more dangerous to play with.
Mogoditshane Fighters coach, Tebogo Mothusi said their game plan was to contain Sharps. Fighters are seating on position four and out of 15 games, they have won eight games, drew three, lost four and they have 27 points.
However the coach said the league was still open for every team to snatch it.
