It is through commitment and dedication that Kweneng District Council and Tribal Administration staff can achieve their institutions’ set goals and targets.
Speaking during a joint local government department staff awards in Mogoditshane on March 3, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Slumber Tsogwane said when employees are familiar with statutes guiding their operations, they would be able to deliver and serve their customers diligently.
“It is important to note that employees who are well informed about what their organisations stand for are more likely to have higher levels of customer engagement,” he said.
He also emphasised the need for employees to work as a team for improved service delivery and the importance of sharing goals and objectives of the two institutions with front desk officers as they portray the image of what their organisations stand for.
He emphasised the importance of identifying talent and harnessing skills of employees who possess outstanding, sound communication skills and constructive thinking.
He said that could help provide useful feedback on what could be done to advance the mandate of the institution.
Minister Tsogwane said individual contributions should be recognised because such employees polish stars to shine better, adding that the ‘quality of a winner is influenced and shaped’ by those who involved.
Mr Tsogwane urged the Tribal Administration and KDC leadership to have a dream aligned to the ministry’s vision to ensure excellence in the provision of social services.
Further, he commended the two institutions’ leadership for combining the staff awards, saying it demonstrated prudence in the use of limited resources, the spirit of oneness and teamwork.
Meanwhile, the permanent secretary in the ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Molefhi Keaja challenged managers in the two institutions to create space for innovation for junior staff to dream big and be able to improve and take the public service further.
Mr Keaja also stressed on the need to provide critical interface with the community they serve.
The two overall performers in the two institutions are Mr Ramonko Mmokonyane and Ms Kefilwe Molathiwa together with the best performing Mogoditshane/Thamaga Sub District senior assistant council secretary, Mr Milton Keitshokile.
