Petroleum products prices adjusts
05 Mar 2017
Ministry of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security informs the general public and other consumers that the retail pump prices for petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin have been adjusted with effect from March 4, 2017.
A press release from the ministry says the price adjustments will be as follows; retail prices for petrol grades will increase by 20 thebe per litre, all diesel grades will increase by 25 thebe per litre, illuminating paraffin will increase by 20 thebe per litre, road fund levy will increase by 10 thebe per litre to 90 thebe per litre, dealer margin will increase by 4 thebe per litre to 65.364 and wholesale margin will be increased by 4 thebe per litre to 55.007.
It further says the increase in retail prices is necessitated by the growing under recoveries since September 2016, and this is to say the cost of bringing petroleum products to Botswana has been higher than the regulated price, hence the need to align local pump prices to international trend.
The release further says retail prices of petroleum products were previously adjusted downward on February 1, 2016 and the government will continue to closely monitor the prices of petroleum products in both regional and international markets and make price adjustments as necessary.
The public is encouraged to continue practicing fuel conservation measures to save fuel and reduce the effects of high fuel costs. ENDS
