Due to budgetary constraints, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has no plans to construct a bridge along Zibonani River in Sepako village in the near future.
The ministry’s assistant minister,Mr Frans Van Der Westhuizen, said when responding to a question in Parliament from Nata-Gweta MP, Mr Polson Majaga.
The assidstant minister said he was aware of the prevailing challenges faced by students and residents of Sepako during rainy seasons adding that ‘during such times, a boat is availed to ferry students and the community of Sepako to either side of the river.’
The above arrangement, assistant minister said would prevail until the financial situation stabilised.
MP Majaga had wanted to know when the construction of the bridge would begin and also asked if Mr Van Der Westhuizen was aware that during rainy seasons students might take up to two weeks without attending classes due to the absence of the bridge and when the situation would be attended to .ENDS
