Ookeditse Malesu is the new Botswana football association Chief Executive Officer.

A press release from BFA says the appointment takes effect immediately.

The release says Malesu brings in rich experience in sports administration and entrepreneurship bolstered by his military training, a building construction diploma from the University of Botswana and the prestigious Engineers Captains Career Course (ECCC) from Fort Leonard Wood-Military Training College of Rolla University in the United States of America (USA).

It also says his working experience in providing building and construction project management skills, ensuring provision of the required level of service to Corps of Engineer unit, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget and according to specifications in line with corporate identity standards during his ten year stint with the Botswana Defence Force (BDF), will serve him well in a multifarious organisation like the BFA.

It further says Malesu has a wide post-military working experience that includes positions as managing director of a building and construction company with subsidiaries in South Africa and Democratic Republic of Congo which has given him exposure in leadership, coordination, implementation ,monitoring and evaluation and strategic aspects of modern business and corporates.

Malesu is also regarded as highly qualified in computer systems and design and his professional activities have exposed him to a variety of computer systems including Auto CAD 2000 and 2002 for architectural designs and drawings.

The release says Malesu is an all-round sportsman with distinctions in leadership in two sports codes; swimming and karate, that have catapulted him into qualifying to serve in various national, regional and international committees and sub committees and sub committees in areas of hospitality and resource mobilisation, competitions organising committees, awards adjudication and review committee.

Further, it says Malesu’s exposure to leadership, experience with a disciplined outfit which specialises in strategy management, tactics and team building will be a great asset to an organisation which has at times been accused of moral and financial discipline.

Meanwhile, the association is hopeful and trusts that the football fraternity will finally find a leadership that is supporter and sponsor centered for the overall development of the game at all levels of the game nationally,regionally and internationally. ENDS
