Parents recognise importance pre schools to learning

Basic foundation in education has been hailed as an important component before primary schooling.
In an interview, parents in the Maun area said pre-schools were foundation which gave confidence to future students.
One parent, Mr Priyton Nyoni said pre-schools were a good investment in the education of every child.
Mr Nyoni, a father of three, said his child was doing well in primary education, getting first positions in every subject and overall position in the entire school owing to his being exposed to learning through pre school.
He said the child was sent to pre-school when she was two years old before going to primary school, something he said moulded her to the level that she was in today.
He therefore appealed to parents to seriously consider pre-schools as a good foundation for their children.
“Most parents see pre-schools as a waste of money but it is a great investment for our children if we have to look at future benefits,” he said.
Mr Nyoni said parents should take responsibility for the education of their children than to leave it to the teachers and the government.
For her part, Ms Ruth Nkolokosah said most parents have noticed the importance of enrolling their children in pre-schools as most of those children were doing well in primary schools, noting that children who begin at pre-schools develop interest in education at tender age.
She said in most cases children who did not start at pre-schools found it difficult to absorb peer pressure. ENDS
