Debswana enhances education

23 Feb 2017

Debswana Jwaneng Mine has donated a printer worth over P55 000 to Metlobo Primary School on Friday as part of the project dubbed ‘donate to school’ that seeks to contribute towards education development.

Metlobo Primary School head, Mr Tsholetsego Magogwe extolled Debswana for the good gesture, noting that they will work tirelessly to produce better results.

Mr Magogwe said their performance has been fluctuating for the past five years with the worst being 24 per cent in 2012. Last year was much better as they attained 72 per centand garnered an average of 51.8 per cent over a period of years.

However, he said it would have been better if they had a reception class, but due to shortage of classrooms and teachers’ houses they have failed to have such curricula.

For his part, Debswana Jwaneng Mine Hospital Superintendent, Dr Mwamba Nsebula hailed Magogwe and his staff for the hard work they displayed over the years.

He said it would be a great honour to see Metlobo pupils in high ranking positions in the future as the company would have contributed to the development they yearn for.

Dr Nsebula said beautiful houses look that way because of the foundation, so education becomes best when built from a good foundation, hence the need for ‘reception’ classes. Dr Nsebula said he would take matters upon himself to go and ask for help from Debswana in order to assist with a reception class.

He said since the printer would be shared among three schools, he promised that they would help with other two printers to increase the number to three in order to enhance efficacy. Kgosi Keipeile Keipeile of Metlobo appreciated
