Monarch welcomes new school
22 Feb 2017
The Monarch community have welcomed the opening of Mount Saint Margaret Institute of Law within the area.
Residents of this location, often infamous for the perception of crime activities reported in the area, believe if the college can become fully operational, maybe other tertiary schools can come in the area and set-up new institutions there as well.
“Monarch is so developed these days with infrastructural development good enough to attract multi-million pula investments. We have good taxis to transport the people here, clinics, police offices, post office and shops,” said Mr Kagelo Sethombe, a 22 year-old resident of Monarch Area 10.
He said the envisaged opening of Mount Saint Margaret Institute of Law in their locality will boost many businesses.
Another resident, Mr Kabelo Bogosi expressed delight at the setting up of a tertiary school in the midst of the Monarch locality.
“It came as a shock to me when I first heard about the school. I went to where I was told the school would be located just to cure my curiosity and indeed I arrived at the premises of Mount Saint Margaret Institute of Law,” he said.
Mr Bogosi said he even made some inquiries with the administrators of the school and was impressed at some of the courses the school was planning to offer.
“Some of their courses were new to me. I cannot wait for the school to open its doors for first intake students,” Mr Bogosi said.
The founder of the school, Mr Elvin Baguma stated that his institution will open doors to business as soon as his accreditation by all the relevant authorities such as Botswana Qualification Authority (BQA) is complete.
Currently, he said their offices were open for interested students to make inquiries on some of the courses that would be offered by the school.
Mr Baguma reiterated the importance of having the school fully accredited by the relevant authorities and that they have submitted almost all of the requirements under BQA’s organisational structures, policies and procedures and that they are soon to complete all required teaching programmes and also pay for their accreditation.
Mr Baguma expressed delight at the reception he got from the residents: “the reception has been wonderful because they come here at our office every day in large numbers just to make inquiries.” BOPA
