Leader of opposition consulted Molale

The Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Eric Molale has confirmed that the Leader of Opposition was consulted before the appointment of the Ombudsman through letters dated 4th and22nd April 2016.

Mr Molale said the views from the Leader of Opposition were contained in his response dated 11th April and 3rd May 2016.

“The Ombudsman was subsequently appointed on 12 May 2016,” he said.

The MP for Selebi-Phikwe West, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse had asked Mr Molale to state whether or not the Leader of Opposition was consulted by the President in the appointment of the Ombudsman.

MP Keorapetse also wanted the minister to state, if not why, and if so, to state what the consultation entailed or how it was done and the Leader of Opposition’s views and if they were considered.
