21 Feb 2017
A press release from Cycle for Life Club secretary general Laone Raboloko says Tsosa Motse in association with Bangwaketse Tribal Administration partnered with Cycle for Life Club to organise an exciting inaugural cycling road race dubbed Kgosi Malope II Cycling Challenge 2017. The release states that the race will be held on February 26 in Kanye.
Tsosa Motse according to the press statement is a non-profit making organisation seeking to facilitate and organise diverse community development projects primarily aimed at the disadvantaged and marginalised communities.
The organisation also focuses on specialised development and empowerment projects, the release says noting the group aims to cultivate a spirit of self-reliance, independence and patriotism among the community.
Raboloko says in a press statement that the Kgosi Malope II Cycling Challenge race is aimed at raising funds and awareness for the refurbishment of a historical site in Kanye, the Mmalekwa Cemetery, which remains a resting place for Bangwaketse royal family, former British settlers and soldiers, as well as former London Missionary Society clergy and colonial administrators.
He further says given the sanctity of the monument, the vision is to turn it into a communal open park, a youth business resource centre, a digital history library as well as a documentary viewing space, which will become a tourist area and also serve as a centre of knowledge.
The event is scheduled to start at 7am in front of National Food Technology Research Centre premises in Kanye. BOPA
