LEA clients elect LLCC representatives

20 Feb 2017

Clients of Masunga branch of the Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) have elected two entrepreneurs to represent them in the Local Level Consultative Committee (LLCC).

The move followed a decision by Masunga LEA to have client representatives in the committee in order to enhance partnership between the institution and its clients, among other things.

The branch manager Ms Segakolodi Ntebele said the importance of entrepreneurs being part of the LLCC was because they had first-hand experience regarding the operation of businesses.

“They also know better the challenges they encounter in their businesses,” Ms Ntebele said.

The primary objective of LLCC is to create a forum for public/private partnership, labour, and civil society on issues of common interest at local level, she added.

Some of the issues that were raised at the forum were; lack of market for the commodities and services as they are competing with large and established companies which usually charge lower prices due to economies of scale.

Furthermore, entrepreneurs pointed out that lack of operational space made it difficult for them to survive.

Mr Gaolaolwe Phologolo, a Business Advisor at LEA, encouraged the community to utilise the services provided by LEA as they were offered freely and could enhance their entrepreneurial skills.

The elected clients to be the voice of entrepreneurs at LLCC are Patrick Maphorisa and Mr Mboy Mathe, both local entrepreneurs. BOPA
