Our mistakes cost us - Coach Drago
20 Feb 2017
Sankoyo Bush Bucks head coach, Drago Stanlojovic has expressed disappointment over his team’s ‘silly mistakes’ during their encounter with Jwaneng Galaxy Football Club, which resulted in their loss over the weekend at Maun Sports Complex.
In an interview after the match, he said the visiting team totalised on their mistakes, hence they beat them 2-0. He stated that the goalkeeper and the central back were a bit relaxed, thus giving their opponents more room to penetrate through and managed to score.
Despite the ‘silly mistakes’, Drago said his boys put up a brave fight, but they were unfortunate as they failed to hit the net. He gave credit to both teams, noting that they had a beautiful game, adding that their rivals deserved to win because they had experienced players and were strong in attacking.
He said the early goal by Jwaneng Galaxy made it difficult for Ngurungu boys to come to their senses.
However, Jwaneng Galaxy was rewarded in the first five minutes through a penalty, which was brilliantly taken by Isaacs Paeye. The encounter between the two teams proved to be a cold match from the beginning until the end of the first half as the players were at ease.
The second half of the game also did not provide anything worthwhile as the two teams continued showcasing a cold play. It was on the 60th minute when Galaxy registered its second and last goal of the match.
Ngurungu defence failed to clear a pass from the goalkeeper, Kabelo Kuti and Tebogo Sosome took advantage of the situation and penetrated the napping Sankoyo defence, driving a win goal home past the keeper.
Meanwhile, Jwaneng Galaxy head coach, Mike Sithole said the game was tough and characterised by rough attacks, adding that their opponents were more organised and quick on the ball than his boys.
He said although they have won his boys did not play up to expectations. “I told them to utilise every chance they create and they did exactly that, hence they managed to walk away with three points,” he added.
Asked if they would become the premier league champions, Sithole was quick to say, ‘we are the underdogs, we are a small team which cannot keep up with big giants. It is still early, but my boys are doing fine and enjoying their games’. BOPA
