Govt has no intention to review Judicial Service Commission composition

Government has no intention to review the composition of the Judicial Service Commission, as they are satisfied with the current composition and the manner in which the entity had delivered its mandate. Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Shaw Kgathi said this when responding to a question from MP for Selebi Phikwe West, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse.
Mr Kgathi said the composition of the Judicial Service Commission is regulated by Section 103 of the Constitution of Botswana.
Selebi Phikwe West legislator had asked if it was the intention of government to review the composition of the Judicial Service Commission in future to increase the number of members not appointed by the President, and also to include representatives from ordinary judges and magistrates association, civil society, academia and Parliament.
