Gaborone National Stadium will undoubtedly be a battlefield tomorrow (february 18) when the local side, Township Rollers, come face to face with CNaPs Sport of Madagascar in a CAF Champions League preliminary second round encounter.
Rollers lost 2-1 last week in the first leg courtesy of Bourahim Jaotombe and Rakotoharimalala Njiwa, while Popa’s crucial away goal was netted by Segolame Boy.
Both Rollers players and the technical team know the importance of tomorrow’s encounter and if they are to realise their dream of proceeding to the next stage of the competition, they have better be well prepared.
For Popa to qualify for the next round and meet the winner between South Sudan’s Atlabara and Coton Sport of Cameroon, they need at least to win 1-0 and take advantage of the away goal rule.
Rollers coach, Mogomotsi Mpote, is well aware of the enormity of the task ahead.
Mpote said in an interview that they had been preparing well for the encounter during the week, and that their main aim was to reverse the score line, and ultimately win the game.
“We have talked to the players that they should forget what happened in Antananarivo last Saturday.
They should focus on the game at hand. We have told every player who will make it to the starting line up to know that our mission is to emerge victorious at the end of 90 minutes,” he said.
Mpote said CNaPs was a good side, but it should be borne in mind that Rollers last week approached the game cautiously taking into consideration that they were playing away.
“Right now we are home and the morale is high in the camp and my boys are confident that they will proceed to the next round,” he said.
Meanwhile, CAF Rules and Regulations dictate that match tickets are not sold at the stadium and as such supporters are advised to buy tickets at CA Sales office near Kgale Hill, Old Township Rollers Office at Extension 10, Gaborone Bus Rank, and Gaborone Station.
Ticket prices are P100 for the grand stands; Panda stand is P40, whereas the rest go for P30. Kickoff time is 4pm. ENDS
