Minister of Basic Education, Dr Unity Dow says all secondary schools are included in the school maintenance programme. Responding to a question in Parliament on Wednesday, Dr Dow said they conduct minor maintenance on a continuous basis and schedule cyclic maintenance every five years when funds permit. “Nare Sereto JSS has been included in the Cyclic Maintenance for Financial Year 2016/2017,” she said. Minister Dow said the maintenance of Primary schools falls under the mandate of Local Government but said that she was informed that there was provision to undertake cyclic maintenance of 20 primary schools in the Kweneng District. She said currently, an assessment of 91 Primary schools is being carried out to identify the critical 20 primary schools to be prioritised. MP for Gabane-Mmankgodi Maj. Gen. Pius Mokgware had asked the minister to state the number of schools in the Gabane-Mmankgodi Constituency which had been included in the school maintenance programme. ENDS
