Ministry implements pooling system

15 Feb 2017

Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele has told Parliament that Moshupa District Health Management Team (DHMT) has five clinics and three were operating without vehicles. Answering a question in Parliament on February 13, he said Kanye DHMT has eight clinics and only two have no vehicles. “Good Hope and Mabutsane have nine clinics each and all had been allocated vehicles. Jwaneng DHMT has 10 clinics and only three are without vehicles,” he said. In addition, the minister said the ministry was implementing a transport pooling system, where ‘vehicles are not assigned to drivers but rather allocated as and when transport is needed hence it is not unusual to have more drivers than vehicles.’ The Specially Elected Member of Parliament, Mr Mephato Reatile wanted the minister to state the number of clinics operating without dedicated vehicles in Moshupa, Kanye, Good Hope, Mabutsane and Jwaneng. The minister was also to state the number of drivers who are at various stations without vehicles and to provide the names of these stations; and how long they had been stationed there without vehicles.
