85 litigate against councils in five years

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said a total of 85 litigations took place in the past five years against the procurement unit in all district and town councils. Answering a question in Parliament on Tuesday, she said, “The total cost associated with all the cases lost for all district and town councils is P10 132 544.93. The total cost paid by councils in the last five years is P11 282 441.24” Specially Elected Member of Parliament, Mr Mephato Reatile had asked the minister to state the number of litigations that took place in the past five years against the procurement unit in all district and town councils, the costs associated with each case lost, and the total cost that had been paid by each council in the last five years.
