Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso has admitted that the entire South East District is experiencing storm water drainage challenges during rainy seasons that usually damage people’s property.
Answering a question in Parliament on Wednesday, Ms Tshireletso said due to financial constraints, there had never been any funding availed to produce a detailed storm water drainage master plan although it had always been a priority for the district.
She however said her ministry, through South East District Council, was currently carrying out minimal remedial works covering 1.2 kilometres at a cost of P1.8 million in Ramotswa.
Member of Parliament for Ramotswa, Mr Samuel Rantuana had asked the minister to state when the storm water drainage master plan for Ramotswa would be implemented considering the damage to people’s properties caused by flood every time there is rain. ENDS
