Rollers ready to rumble

BTC Premiership giants, Township Rollers left today for Madagascar to compete in the first leg of the CAF championship against CNaPS Sport tomorrow afternoon.
In an interview, Rollers coach, Mogomotsi Mpote said his side, despite a few challenges beyond their control which inlcude insufficient resources, is set to play against CNaPS Sport, the Madagascar four-time consecutive league champions since 2013.
Rollers’ departure leaves no room or enough time for them to adapt to weather conditions.
“Adaptation will be on Friday when we arrive. We will go for training in the afternoon and play the next day. This is unfortunate because I would have liked to go there well on time and afforded more time for my players to acclimatise,” he said.
The 22-men squad go into the clash hoping to build on their last derby win against arch rivals Gaborone United in the BTC Premiership match, but the game against CNaPS Sport would seem a different ball game altogether.
Nevertheless, Mpote applauded his players, saying they have been responding well to training in preparation for the encounter and was also happy about their fitness level even though they will miss the likes of Galabgwe Moyana who has been injured.
“However, I can say the mood in the camp has since been high and players have been committed to the preparations and we are looking forward to taking part in the continental competitions,” he said. He further expressed confidence on his team that it would deliver good results despite the hostility of the competition away from home.
Rollers are expected back home on February 13. They play CNaPS in the return leg in Gaborone on February 18. ENDS
