22 Jan 2017

Konneckt Sports Management will on April 14 host a bicycle race dubbed Tutume Humber Challenge and Urban Culture Festival.

The race, which is the first bicycle race to be hosted by Konneckt Sports Management, is aimed at reviving the Humber bicycle, which enjoys some legendary status amongst locals and people in surrounding villages.

This race is not only about the Humber bicycle, as according to Mogomotsi Mapho, who is the event organiser, there will be cultural activities during the day, which will combine old and modern day festivities as well as a soccer tournament.

Ministry of Youth Development, Sports and Culture is the main sponsor of the race and other sponsors are the Tutume Spar, Zebras and Township Rollers goalkeeper Kabelo Dambe and musician Ramozara.

Ramozara is also the face of the race and the Ministry of Health and Wellness will also play a part as HIV and AIDS and other health related issues will be taught to the attending public.

Mapho also indicated that any bicycle can be used in the race as they have categories for both Humber and other sports bicycles.

Both thev young and old are invited to register and for those who will not be riding bicycles, a walking event is planned to cater for them.

The bicycle race is not the first event to be hosted by Konneckt Sports Management as they have hosted Tjinyuni Babili Football Tournament this past Christmas and New Year holidays.BOPA
