19 Jan 2017

Mr Amos Morwe is one of the individuals who bear testimony that indeed government initiatives are fruitful.

Speaking in an interview at his workshop in Gabane recently, Mr Morwe said he started Rainbow Tents and Castles hire through Youth Development Funding.

He said the fund improved his life in lips and bounds.

Mr Morwe said prior to receiving funding in 2016, he had no stable income that made it hard to tackle day to day challenges.

‘’I applied for the Youth Development Fund (YDF) in 2015, and a year later I was successful to start my business, which deals with manufacturing tents, castles and hiring them,” he said.

He said he was given P100 000 to purchase tents, castles, sewing machines and other materials to start operating.

“This kind of business is normally a seasonal one.

My biggest customers are those who are getting married, hosting parties and corporate events.

As for wedding they happen normally during the beginning of the year and towards the end of the year, meaning that in-between the business turn out is very low,’’ he added.

Mr Morwe said to overcome the challenges, he normally save the profit made and use it wisely.

‘’To tell the truth it’s a profitable business, because nowadays there are events happening almost on a daily basis, it is determined by how you market yourself and making sure you remain in touch with every customer,” said.

The Rainbow Tents and Castle hiring which is located in Gabane boast of more customers as it is strategically located and easily accessible.

Mr Morwe said he has employed two other youth to help with daily running of the business. He however wishes to see his business spreading wings across the country and employing more unemployed youth.

“I urge other youth to venture into business and use the YDF wisely so that they could be able to fend for themselves and their loved ones,” he said. BOPA
