Chiefs Boitekanelo College partner

Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Boitekanelo College have entered in a partnership which will benefit the players.

The college will offer the team technical support ranging from doctors, physiotherapy, nutrition to dietician.

Speaking at the partnership launch, Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Dikgang Makgalemele said Boitekanelo being a college of health and education had gone out of its way and boldly decide to improve the health status of Mochudi Centre Chiefs family.

He said what Boitekanelo did was a way of contributing to physical, mental, and economic well-being of the team and its extension being supporters.

Makgalemele hailed the partnership, adding such shoud be further said Boitekanelo and Mochudi Centre Chiefs was a unique relationship and therefore should be encouraged.

“At my ministry we view partnerships such as this one as a critical value as we would like to see increasing community empowerment and active involvement of the private sector,” he said.
President of Boitekanelo College Dr Tiroyaone Mampane.said the college had crafted its niche around the health space and it had at core the health and wellness of communities.

The partnership, he said would afford the team services such as team doctors who would work closely with the technical crew and the coach to ensure the players were always in good health to serve their team optimally.

He said also the team would have physiotherapists who would provide the necessary physio support to the players, adding there would be an available facilities that the team would use as their clubhouse which would improve their presence and ease on their responsibilities to the club.

The players, he said would be afforded opportunity to enrol for some of their certificate and diploma programmes at a discounted tuition fees, given that the short life span enjoyed by footballers as their carrier was very limited.

Centre Chiefs  chairperson, Raymond Tsheko said the partnerships comes at the right time when Botswana football was trying to come up with some reforms that would see a paradigm shift at club level.

“With the college on board, we are more than ready to comply with all requirements expected at Lekidi,”he said. BOPA
