Malatsi finds niche in mechanics

People residing in the Bobonong and surrounding areas will no longer travel to far places like Selebi Phikwe or even Francistown to fix or service their vehicles as Dream Choice Mechanic Garage is now there to ease life for them.
Speaking in an interview, the garage assistant director, Mr Malatsi Malatsi said shortage of garages that offer full mechanic services in Bobonong has propelled him to establish a mechanic business.
He said even though most garages in Bobonong are doing mechanics, his competitive advantage over them is that his business is unique as it does computerised car scanning and wheel alignment.
Mr Malatsi, who has a Trade B qualification in Mechanics said that mechanic job has always been running in his blood vessels from a tender age. “Mechanics is a lifestyle in our family as I grew up in a family where mechanics was taken as a means of survival,” he explained.
“As I always dreamed of opening my own workshop, I never gave up even though I did not have funds to kick start my business,” he said. Mr Malatsi said in 2015 he was assisted by the Department of Youth through the Youth Development Fund programme to start his business.
“My business, which is located at Rasetimela Ward in Bobonong, specialises in mechanics, wheel alignment, scanning, panel beating and welding,” he said. Mr Malatsi said they use Facebook as well as fliers as some of their marketing tools.
His client come from Bobonong, Gobojango, Semolale, Mabolwe and nearby villages. He says that the good feedback he is getting from his clients is a sign that people appreciate his work. “The presence of a computerised car scanner in my garage helps me to deal with complicated cars such as BMW,” he emphasised.
Mr Malatsi said currently he has three employees, but what worries him most is that he does not have a receptionist. ENDS
