Engage media for mileage - Molefhi

09 Jun 2013

The Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Nonofo Molefhi has urged Lions Club to engage the media in projects they undertake.

Speaking at the Change Over dinner in Francistown on June 7, he said that would call forth more people to joining the club.

The dinner was to endorse new presidents for theFrancistown, Nyangabgwe, Jubilee, Tati and Tonota Lions Clubs.

The minister said there was little information known about projects since it is not publicised on the media.

"Through publicity, much would be known, more especially self-reliance projects which are meant to uplift the lives of the communities."

Before and during independence, Mr Molefhi said Batswana were known to be self-reliant, a spirit which has since diminished within communities, noting that it is upon them to nurture their intentions and ensure they reach their intended goals.

He talked of retired people who possess variety of skills within communities, and advised that they could rope in new ideas and take the club to greater heights.

“Mobilisation is important as it can attract sponsorships from the business communities," he said.

Meanwhile, the new presidents were endorsed for the year 2013/2014.

New president for Francistown club, Mr Prasanth Pennasani said together with his club members they will continue to raise their flag high and work hard on new projects they plan to undertake for their reigning year. ENDS
