SKL Safari Group Company has donated gifts to 15 needy students in Maun.
The gifts included shoes, Christmas presents and a special lunch to bring a smile and hope to the beneficiaries.
SKL is a safari company that operates public camping grounds in Botswana’s prime national parks and within Chobe National Park, it has campsites in Savuti, Linyanti and Khwai, known for excellent game and offers good sightings through the year.
Speaking during the handing over of the gifts, the director of the company, Ms Constance Mbulawa called on the tourism business community to demonstrate love, support and care to the needy society to ensure they live a dignified life.
She said it is important to plant back to the community with a view to transform the lives of the less underprivileged in the society. “I believe in the district council logo which states that ‘Unity is Strength’ that calls us to partner with council and play an integral part in the development of our district,” she added.
Ms Mbulawa called all to develop a culture of giving back to the society especially children which she said they are the future generation of the country.
For his part, the chairperson of Social and Development Community committee, councillor Keebonye Mphoyamodimo commended the company for their good gesture, adding that the donation signified good heartedness and encouraged other companies and the community at large to emulate that.
He said the donation will indeed bring relief on the council and also bring a smile and hope to the beneficiaries, noting that if the child grows up without dignity it might result in low self-esteem.
He added that their partnership with private sector is crucial as they are all working towards one goal for people to live a dignified life.
Meanwhile, SKL has adopted Komana and Nxaraga primary schools. The company is fully supporting the schools in almost all activities including buying uniforms for some pupils and offering sponsorship for some needy students.
The council chairman, Mr Reaboka Mbulawa indicated in his opening speech of the full council that more companies had showered interest to partner with the council in development issues of the district. ENDS
