Ministry aware of resource constraints
19 Dec 2016
The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development is addressing conditions under which social workers and all other cadres in Francistown City Council (FCC) are operating by rationalising resources.
The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso, said this when responding to a question in Parliament from Francistown South MP, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi.
Ms Tshireletso said social workers and all other cadres in FCC were operating without tools of trade due to budgetary constraints.
To close this gap, she said her ministry, through FCC, was also addressing the issue by installing information and communication technology infrastructure, telephones and furniture.
“The gaps cannot be closed immediately, but will keep on improving the situation on an annual basis, resources permitting,” she said.
Mr Mmolotsi wanted to know if the minister was aware of the difficult conditions social workers in Francistown were operating under and when would they be given all the tools of trade to function efficiently. ENDS
