Marimavu streetlights not in plan
14 Dec 2016
The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso has told Parliament that due to insufficient funds, there was no inclusion of streetlights during construction of Marimavu road project.
Unfortunately, she said her ministry had no provision in its budget to install streetlights along Marimavu road, adding that the project had not been included as part of NDP 11, due to ceiling constraints.
Ms Tshireletso said the entire road was around 3km in length and the estimated cost of streetlight installation in P2 700 000.
She said unfortunately these lights were not included in the road tender due to budgetary constraints.
MP for Francistown South Mr Wynter Mmolotsi had asked the minister when she intended to construct streetlights along Marimavu roads, how much the projects was likely to cost and why the lights were not included in the road tender. ENDS
