The annual estimated cost for running the educational broadcasting division is P6, 032, 508.00 of which P4,532,508.00 is expended on salaries and P1,500,000.00 in television licenses.

Speaking in Parliament, Assistant Minister of Basic Education, Mr Moiseraele Goya said the educational broadcasting division augmented curriculum delivery through media platforms and that as the country moved towards increased use of e-learning, rich multimedia would become more and more critical to quality delivery allowing learners to study on their own.

He, however, said whilst it was difficult to establish tangible results influenced directly by the broadcast of educational programmes, the ministry received accolades from learners who stated that these programmes had assisted them to improve.

Mr Goya, therefore, noted that the ministry had no intentions to close the division since it remained a key curriculum support service.

Boteti East MP, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe, had asked how much it cost government to run the said department annually, looking at staffing, maintenance and daily expenses.ENDS
