Moipisi admits need to connect boreholes
13 Dec 2016
The Assistant Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services, Mr Itumeleng Moipisi says it is necessary that boreholes installed for water supply are connected to the grid for their efficient operation.
Mr Moipisi was responding to Molepolole South MP, Dr Tlamelo Mmatli, who had wanted to know if the minister would consider installing standby generators at Malwelwe and Gaotlhobogwe wellfields and other boreholes that supplied Molepolole with water to power the boreholes during frequent power outrages.
Resources permitting, Mr Moipisi said the boreholes were generally provided with standby generators to minimise down time during periods of power outrages.
In 2015/16 and 2016/17 financial years, the technical proposals for the installation of sandby generators for the five identified yielding boreholes were submitted.
“Two in Malwelwe and three in Gaotlhobogwe were considered, however implementation was not done due to budgetary constraints.
Nonetheless, the requests will be considered once more, should the financial positions of my ministry improve,” he said. ENDS
