Molale not aware of PSP campaign
11 Dec 2016
Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Eric Molale says he is not aware that the Permanent Secretary to the President has previously campaigned for any elections or permitted to do so.
Answering a Parliamentary question Thursday (December 8), Mr Molale said the Permanent Secretary to the President (PSP) has never stood for any elections nor campaigned for anyone, at least whilst occupying his office as such.
He added that he had not established anything that tended to suggest that PSP used his office or state resources contrary to the terms of his employment, provisions of the Public Service Act or any other applicable Laws and regulations, which prohibited public officers from political activism.
Minister Molale was answering a question from Francistown South MP, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi, who asked why the PSP was allowed to campaign for elections using his office, state resources and programmes.
Mr Mmolotsi also wanted to know if such did not amount to abuse of public office. ENDS
